Agra At a Glance

Agra is the city of the unique Taj Mahal. The story of Agra begins much prior then the Taj and finds its place in epic Mahabharata also. Ptolemy, the famous second century A.D. geographer, manifested it on his map of the world as Agra. Tradition and legend attribute the present city of Raja Badal Singh (around 1475 A.D.). Later under the Mughal rule, the city became prominent due to its finest monuments design: The Taj Mahal Agra of Shah Jhan, Itmad-Ud-Daulah, Agra Fort of Akbar, and neighbouring Sikandra.
